Bio

Sonia Redfern is a Brooklyn-based artist exploring landscapes and spacescapes using eco-friendly and reclaimed materials. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Redfern initially pursued an undergraduate degree in astronomy and physics. Although her concentration eventually pivoted to visual arts, she continues to bring her curiosity about the world from science into her artwork. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Studio Art from the University of Arizona and holds a Master’s degree in Art Education from Brooklyn College.

Redfern has exhibited at such spaces as Bowery Gallery in New York City, Paradigm Gallery in Philadelphia, The Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition in Brooklyn, and her work was featured on a Brooklyn billboard through the organization SaveArtSpace as well as on television with News Channel 12. Her artwork has been published in Create! Magazine, New Visionary Magazine, and on the cover of Art Seen. Redfern’s paintings are held in private collections throughout the United States, as well as in South Korea and the Middle East.
